TV Guide Moves Online, Eh?
In Canada, TV Guide will discontinue all printed formats of its magazine on November 20 by moving all distribution to electronic formats. Here’s a blurb about the move in the NY Times.
NY Times: The familiar logo of TV Guide will disappear from Canadian supermarket check out lanes next month, after a dramatic decline in the magazine’s circulation.
Sales of the Canadian version which reached about a million copies a week during the 1980’s are now down to 243,000.
“This publication is different,” said Natalie Larivière, the president of Transcontinental Media. “It is time-sensitive. The Internet is a platform that can allow us to do more updates and provide richer content.”
