Get an ISSN
The International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is an internationally accepted code that identifies the title of serial publications. It is an eight digit number consisting of seven digits plus a check digit which enables a computer to recognise when the number is incorrectly cited.
ISSN differs from an ISBN in that the later represents a single volume while the former identifies the title of a serial and stays the same from issue to issue unless the title changes
After 90 years of publication, Lambda Chi Alpha’s Cross & Crescent finally received one. Obtaining an ISSN is easy, free, but may take several months for them to process your application.
Though you don’t gain many benefits for having one, the ISSN can be thought of as the social security number of the serials world. An ISSN distinguishes a particular serial from others with which it might be confused. The ISSN also helps library patrons, libraries, and others who handle large numbers of serials to find and identify titles in automated systems more quickly and easily.
